I’m Key, also known as The Chiron Guide.

My work examines the Wounded Healer archetype and the patterns that shape our relationships to pain, identity, and power. It is shaped by the lived experience of a hypervigilant nervous system and a lifelong practice of listening to the body, to silence, and to what emerges when we stop managing ourselves long enough to feel.

I’m less interested in fixing or optimizing, and more interested in what becomes visible when vigilance is no longer the organizing force. Much of what we call healing, I see as patterns. Patterns that influence perception, pace, sensitivity, and the ways we give our power away without realizing it.

My work draws on contemplative practice, cross-cultural spiritual inquiry, and an ongoing study of the nervous system, not as frameworks to follow, but as lenses through which to question what we’ve been taught about healing.

Before this, I was a hip-hop journalist. Storytelling, nuance, and truth-telling remain central to how I think and speak. I pay attention to what is said, what is avoided, and what quietly shapes both.

My spiritual path began in childhood, in the quiet of my grandmother’s closet—a place of prayer, reflection, and early relationship with Spirit, ancestors, and God. Raised in a deeply religious household shaped by both devotion and complexity, my understanding of faith expanded early—particularly after discovering a Quran hidden beneath my aunt’s bed following her passing. That moment opened a lifelong inquiry into the wisdom held across traditions.

That inquiry has taken me across cultures, from Buddhist temples in Japan to time with monks in Thailand to work with Christian organizations in the Philippines. These experiences continue to inform how I think about healing, power, and what it means to live in right relationship with ourselves and others.

Today, my work lives through writing and spoken reflection. I speak to those who are tired of holding it all together, not to offer answers, but to make visible what often goes unnamed, so that something more honest can begin.

  • I met Key at a writer's retreat in Santa Fe in September 2024. We connected initially on sharing a black identity, but became connected on social media and kept in touch that way.
